The Society for Technologically Advanced Materials of India (STAMI) is formed by academicians from various nationally reputed institutions. STAMI was established in 2006 at Nagpur, Maharashtra, India under chairmanship of Prof. Ram Pal Tandon. Major activities and services of society include spread of academic culture, inculcate research aptitude amongst younger researchers, creation of union of databases of resources available in academic and scientific industries which will support in academic pursuit and openly accessed by any scientific community. This would facilitate progress of science and technology in India and abroad as well as promote scholarly communications.
Conferences in association with various universities are periodically organized at international level. This provides a platform for the young researchers and faculty members to share and discuss their views with the academicians as well as industry personnel. This also helps the young researchers to know the problems and come up with real-time solution. Till date conferences were organized at various locations like Delhi, Nagpur, Sri Lanka, Malayasia, Uzbekistan
Apart from conferences, some other activities have been undertaken by society such as Guest lectures by the scientists for the students of various colleges, interaction of industrial executives with society, educational visits etc. Recently the society intends to create awareness amongst young students to strike a harmonious balance between nature and anthropogenic activities. This would ultimately lead to sustainable development of man and mankind.
